Traveler’s Tips
Upon Arrival
Tourists that enter Mexico need to show customs authorities a valid passport. Children under 18 years old must also present a notarized letter of consent from both parents if one parent is not traveling with them. |

Location
Cancun is located on the north eastern side of the Yucatan Peninsula. The penisnsula is divided in three parts: The Hotel Zone, The Island and the Downtown Area. The island has the shape of a number 7, the outer part faces the Caribbean sea and the inside faces Nichupte Lagoon. The Lagoon is connected by two bridges Punta N to the South and Playa Linda at the north. |

Transportation
Free transportation to and from the airport is included if you reserve directly through Riu. Taxis are available 24 hours a day but before you board them, settle the amount to be paid with the driver. The most inexpensive way to get around is by bus. The bus makes stops throughout the day at important points of the hotel zone and downtown area. You can board at any of the strategically located bus stops. |

Weather
Cancun has 253 days of sun every year and temperatures vary between 80° F and 90° F. Like most of the Caribbean, the rain and hurricane season is during the months of May through December. Even though Cancun registers some of the highest temperatures, a pleasant breeze creates a comfortable climate during the day. |

Portable Water
Visitors are recommended to always drink bottled water; you can get it in every store. Riu Hotels has special purified water for rooms and food processing, bottled water is also available in our properties. |
